I never stopped crying watching this. How amazing this cat is trying so hard to help it's friend. They say animals don't feel pain or have empathy...
I beg to differ....
This is Jessica or Jess!
Jess came into our lives on March 16, 2013... It's a rabbit you get for St. Patrick's Day... Right?
Well we did! And what an amazing little creature she has turned out to be! I'm still totally fascinated with her every move after 6 months of what Hubby calls "stalking her". I suppose I do a bit but she just amazes me! Jess seems so small and defenceless but every living thing in this house is afraid of her! :~) Well not really but she is now with out a doubt the boss of the house!
I speak fluent "cat" a little "dog", "horse" and a few others but..... I don't know a word of "rabbit" and after 6 months I'm still only on the basics! I can bribe her with food and have no problem with that! :~) But, though I feel I'm getting to know her more, I think in the future I will get closer to her than I am now. I have decided to do what I should have done from the start... Let her tell me how fast or slow we are going to get to know each other. I plan on her being around for a good 10 to 15 years at least. So I have the time!
As to how little Jess has changed my life?
I love animals as you probably know if you have made it here deep within this site :~) When Jess came to us I was already a vegetarian for 2 years even thought I had a few slip ups. (no more though, never!!) But sitting here day by day and night by night watching my little Bun Bun hop and skip and jump so happy! I started to think more... More about things like the poor animals that are used for testing things that are totally unnecessary... thinking of the animals used for clothing and furniture... thinking of all of the cruelty dome to animals...
It was to much for me!
I see this one little amazing bunny how unique, funny and clever she is, her individual personality that makes her Jessica and can't imagine how anyone could do harm to a living creature any more. It's not really a revelation but more a realization... I don't want to be a part of it any more.
I have bought a leather sofa in the past... I have eaten beef, veal, deer, all the usual and some unusual meats.... I have shoes and bags that are leather... I never bothered to look at the things I bought with a thought it was alive at some point or that an animal was treated cruelly so I could put paint on my face or wash my dishes. I'm 2 years into being a veggie and it's only just really hit me it's not just the food I eat....
It's life and the quality of life that matters to me but I'm not talking about my life. I mean the life of all living creatures on the planet.
My Bunny changed my life! I look now before I buy... No matter what it is I'm buying. Clothes, make-up, cleaning products, anything and everything! I want to be a part of something good! I look for the bunny sign or read the labels... "not tested on animals" "vegan" "vegetarian" "cruelty free" and I won't be buying any more shoes or bags made of leather.
I'm not sure where exactly I fit into the vegetarian/vegan way of living but I know I'm finding my way.
With the help of my little Jessica I am on my path and I'm getting where I want to be.
That's how my rabbit changed my life!
I'm so happy she has!
I love animals!
