Made Me Smile
Today was one of those days that felt like it would never end! Places to be, things to do... you know the way.
I was at the Doctor today, nothing, just girl stuff. Sitting in the waiting room next to a woman I'm pretty certain has died by now! I'm not being mean, I swear, but oh my, she sounded awful! And me with the germ thing... her hacking and coughing everywhere! Why don’t people use tissues???? Do me a favour.... really if you’re reading this and you ever have a cold.... please for weird neurotics like me, just take a tissue with you! (I'm sure anyone reading this would do that anyway!) :~)
Anyway... I was sitting in the death trap doctor’s office fiddling with things in my pocket... and I found this little guy! I have no idea where it came from but after about ten minutes of trying to figure out what it was by feeling of it I gave up and looked... it made me smile! :~)
Just one thing to add... I don’t really like our doctor now, I guess he’s ok but we had a really great doctor before... before she died... :~( seriously!
OK one more thing I promise this is it... To all of you who have read, and those who have commented on my little blog........ (((((Hugs!))))
Right so I didn’t really have a shot for today and as I am totally lazy and don’t want to leave the house or anything... this is it! I managed to muster up enough to go up and have a shower and wash my hair! The washing my hair is the big job! I have a lot of hair! I just want to point out a couple of things about this pic and then I'm done! :~)
First... I NEVER have socks on that match unless they are new. I don’t know how I got 2 socks that matched today it’s a miracle! Really!
Second... I think my right leg must be longer then my left leg! I have had my suspicions for years but looking at this it must be! It seems, upon reflection, that I am always pulling at my clothes on the right side to be the same length as the left! At least I'm not going in circles!
Third... I get dizzy drying my hair!
That's it! :~)
A Saturday Surprise
Just a few days ago I posted a photo of my dad holding me when I was a baby... I said it was a photo copy of a copy and it was. I also said I didn’t have the original... I was wrong!!!!! I'm delighted and I can’t believe it! I have no idea how on earth I ended up with it but what a great surprise! I didn’t have a plan for my pic today so I was roaming the house digging things up looking here and there for something interesting and found an envelope full of old negatives (37 years old to be exact!) I looked through every one and... This one was the very very last one! I swear the very last! :~)
Here is the one I put up last weekend...
This Little Piggy!
I had planned this pic for a few days ago... That's when my toe nail fell off! But I got side tracked on other pics so today is the day for this one. In November when we went to see the Gorillaz my sock and shoe had a fight on the walk back to the hotel! My toe lost! It’s been black since then and finally it fell off a few days ago! (A lovely story I know!) So.... when it fell off, well it didn’t really fall off it had some help! And as I was assisting in the removal I was thinking of the “Little Piggy” thing! So I thought this might be fun! I was sure to cover the offended and offending toe! I’m not even that gross! Took me forever to get this shot too! As usual... one thing I am learning from the 365 is I really need to allow for more time. You should have seen me trying to balance flowers and notes on my feet and take a pic! I have sweaty feet and trust me it was not easy! Was bad enough then Michael walked in.... he gave me that look like “omg what the fuck are you doing you mad bastard you!” then turned and left! I’m sure everyone has seen that look! (I hope so anyway!) Anyway I'm glad that's over! Took forever for that thing to finally give up!
Alas! No more black toe!!!! :~)
To The Man I Never Knew
Although I never met you, never shook your hand or hugged you. I do know you. I see you in your son each and every day. I know the things you would say, and just how you would say them! I know that you helped to make my husband the man he is, and I'm so happy for that. I know the love you gave and received and all of the lives you touched. I know how special you were. And if I listen I can just almost hear your voice... I wish so much that I had met you but I know there is no need. I know that I already know you, and I know you know me too. And for everything I love you and I miss you...
I couldn’t decide what to do today. So I thought I would get some of my bags out! I love bags! There are 26 here, one for every day so far! And there is even one I made! The bag I’m in today is not in the pic. It’s a big black bag we bought in Enniscorthy, where we were married. I love it! It has four cameras in it at the moment and everything else! That's it for today. Just me and my handbag fetish! Just one more thing... when I thought of doing this I thought it would be easy but, alas! Like everything I think will be easy it was NOT!!!! I'm glad today is done! :~)
I like to drive! I never had a very good car and defiantly never had a car to tell me what to do! “Press Break + Start” oh I know probably most cars do things like this now... our car doesn’t even have a key! It’s a card like a credit card but thicker!
I learned to drive an automatic when I was 15 but didn’t learn to drive a standard till I was about 21 or so. My dad gave me my first lesson in a standard... and last! We killed each other! Then he gave me a second lesson later that didn’t go as bad but still no dice! I just didn’t get it. Now keep in mind I wasn’t learning on a new car like now days. I was learning in an old 71 Chevy truck! I don’t like to be beat by something and shifting a car was not going to get the better of me! So..... One day my dad and I were at my grandparent’s house and my grandma wanted me to drive her to the grocery store. I said to her let’s take the truck! She was game so off we went! Now remember I had only 2 lessons and didn’t really understand what the hell I was doing! Things went ok on the way there only slight whiplash! (Not to bad) then away back home! Well... on the way back home there is a hill. Not only a hill but a hill with a stop sign at the bottom. Also at the bottom of said hill was a T junction with a pond at the top of the T where people always over judge it and crash into the water and we (I) had to turn left! I didn’t know what to do? Shift? Break? Clutch? HELP!!!!! But asking Gran was not the thing to do! I must have looked really funny and panicked because she started to laugh at me! I asked her again (closer to the dreaded turn and no doubt death or at least a near drowning) “Help! What do I do?” she laughed more! I was horrified and we were both about to have a good soaking! She, still laughing and now holding herself not to pee her pants! Said nothing! Yes NOTHING!!!! Or if she did I couldn’t hear her through the laughter! I swear it felt like we took that corner on two wheels! But we made it! And I never had any more problems driving a standard!
One more thing... the two stuffed animals on the dash are special. The one on the left is Sam he goes where we go. He is very well travelled from California to Italy! The one on the right is our guard! Michael’s mother gave him to us and he’s our protector!
Confessions of a Popcorn Addict
I am without a doubt a popcorn addict! My addiction started from a very young age! It was my grandmother that got me started on the stuff!
One of best memories from being a kid is making popcorn with Gran (my grandmother). She had this old popper that was basically a pot with a coiled burner under it and, the best part, a glass lid! Sometimes when I would stay, she would say lets pop some corn! Oh wow! What fun we had! She would get everything ready and sit me up on the counter top beside the popper to watch! She would leave the lid off and we would watch it sizzle and get hotter and hotter! Then! All of the sudden... one lone kernel would POP! She would look at me and I would look at her and the lid would go on! Then we would watch together while that wonderful lovely pop corn would pop away! The condensation would build up on the inside of the lid and we could hardly see! Then.... right at the very end... She would grab the lid and unleash the last few pops! Popcorn would pop out of the pot and end up anywhere! Then we would both laugh and laugh!!!! She and I always had fun no matter what we did! She made it that way! I miss her...
I'm also eating popcorn as I type!
