I was trying to think of something with an Easter feel to it and this came to mind. My great grandmother made this for me when I was a baby! She died within the next year so I never got to know her. I had one pic of four generations of females… me, just born in my great granny Lamb’s arms, my grandmother and my mom. It was a really great photo but it was in the baby book my step monster stole from me. Oh well!
Anyway I love this and always think of her making this just for me! Those old hands of hers… what a talented woman she was and I know when she made this she didn’t see well either! I know she was strong as my grandmother has told how granny Lamb raised her alone after her husband hit her and she wanted no part of a life like that and sent him away! I'm sure it wasn’t the easiest thing in the mid 1920’s to be a single parent… but she did. She bought her won house and never needed anything from anyone! I think I get my boobs from her! lol!
Anyway a bunny for Easter! Woo hoo!
I won a rabbit once… seriously! I was in school and played bingo at the Easter carnival thing the school had and won a real live flop eared rabbit! He was beautiful! But unfortunately he was also deaf! I swear! Deaf! The only way to get his attention was to tap the cage he was in so he could feel it! my grandparents kept him at their house awhile and then we gave him back to the people that had donated him for the Easter bingo… we asked if they knew he was deaf… they did… no doubt the reason they donated him in the first place… poor little bunny!
I'm still working on the doll… I have one head, one body, and one arm so far! It’s like a horror movie in a bag here at the moment!
The photo below is of my grandmother and her mother, the woman that made this lovely blanket for me! My grandmother on the left was about 16 so this is about 1940. Granny Lamb died when I was 1, in 1974.
As I bizarre side note here…
When Michael and I went to Texas the last time we went to look at grave stones of my family. We went to look for my grandfathers (mother’s side). The graveyard is massive and to find anyone you have to get directions at the entrance…. They even give you a map! Really!
Anyway we got the map to my Granddaddy and got out and looked… and looked… and looked. No luck though… but! And this is a bit spooky I guess but very very cool too. When we gave up and went back to the car I looked down just across from where we had parked … where we were told to go… and looked down only to find the grave of my Granny Lamb! I guess she wanted to be heard! And she was! :~)
I have decided to do a Project 365! Here is just a bit of info behind every pic.
I have an Etsy shop now! Check it out here!!!!
