Stairs and ladders
I was in bed the other night and for some reason I started to think of my grandmother and I playing chutes and ladders… I can remember she had this old board it must have been my dad’s at least! And the art work on it was amazing! I can remember the detail of the ladders and the chutes and little pictures by each one! my grandmother had the board in her night stand next to her bed… it had long since lost its box and was just folded in half and lived beside the few permanent books that resided in the same place! She had the “men” pieces in the drawer…. Hers was blue, like a 3D button made of wood with a ball on the top of it! I don’t know what mine was!
She was in the hospital 5 days before she died… I thought it was three before I saw it on her death certificate it seems so weird to have forgot that… I had power of attorney not my dad. That’s what she wanted. So when the time came to make decisions they were mine. He didn’t help or even ask… maybe he thought she had told me everything she wanted if anything happened to her… she had but still he should have checked or said something… it was all left to me… I had not met Michael yet so I was on my own… not too easy but I'm glad she had so much faith in me, she knew everything would be done like she wanted. And it was…
Anyway I think she must have paid me a visit the other night! I could feel her there… as I was thinking and playing chutes and ladders in my head!
Thanks Gran for the visit!
