That Boy Needs Therapy!
I think I have put this up before but it’s great and deserves a mention again just in case you missed it the first time!
So I thought today would be the last day of physiotherapy but alas! I was wrong…. At least 5 more visits. Oh well! That’s life isn’t it! I'm not complaining it’s not a big deal going… it’s not far and it doesn’t take too long.
I had major surgery on my knee when I was 23 and was on crutches in total for 9 months! Blah! It was a big surgery but I didn’t have to stay in hospital… my dad took me home which at the time was an apartment upstairs! Of course! My leg was in this thing from ankle to… well as high as it could go and I couldn’t bend my knee at all. I had to wear this brace for two months…
I remember my dad taking me home the day I had surgery…
I was thirsty and we stopped to get water…. It was cold and lovely! When we got home the stairs were the first challenge I had… my poor dad was freaking out as to how I would get up them… finally bleary eyed and tired I just used my hand on the rails to make my way up and straight to bed… I was on massive amounts of pain killers and the Dr. told my dad to watch me and not to leave me alone eating or smoking (I don’t smoke anymore but did then) so my dad was nurse… we would come in to check on me every 2 hours with soup and a cigarette and sit and watch that I didn’t fall asleep or set the house on fire. He was a good nurse. :~)
Till I had to get out of bed….
We both had to learn I guess and now it’s so very funny to look back at but at the time it was less than funny.
They had cut the muscles in my leg so I had no control over it at all. My dad had to help me out of bed… tried to cover me up but at the time I didn’t care who saw anything I just had to pee and BAD!
So very gently and tenderly my dad picked up my leg at the ankle and we gentle and slowly rotated me around to get out of the bed… he looked like he was holding a bomb….
Now.. I'm at the edge of the bed and he holding my leg level with me by the ankle… in position and then… what did he do?
He let go! And with a big thud and a lot of pain my foot hit the flood like a ton of lead! And I jumped up to try to keep up with my leg that had no control! With the thud my dad looked at my with big eyes and an expression on his face I will never forget! Lol! He said… “oops!”
The next time we got it right though and I quickly was ok to tend to my own non-moving leg!
So… I had better get this up or it won’t be the 8th anymore! I had planned on typing a bit more but no time!
The other thing was my grandmothers…. Helping in the house! They helped so much the two of the felt I hadn’t the kitchen arranged good enough and they had an idea of how to do it better….. all of the dishes and pots and pans were moved…. Nothing was where I had once had it and some things I never found!
I have decided to do a Project 365! Here is just a bit of info behind every pic.
I have an Etsy shop now! Check it out here!!!!
