We have been trying to get the cats used to each other... they have to be supervised! lol!
This is Oliver...
If you don't know about Oliver here is his story...
Oliver found me in the car park of Wal-mart very very late one night. I say him at the heels of 3 people walking through the car park. I said "cute kitten!" they said... of course... "He is not ours he's been running around here". They followed it up with "I'm afraid he will be hit by a car so close to such a big road, you should take him home!"
Right! I must have a sign on my forehead!
All cats welcome!
I couldn't resist anyway so no matter!
Oliver was such a little cutie! I had 7 cats already one more wouldn't make much difference! Oliver fit in fine...
About 6 months later one day he was in my lap and I just happened to see something in his mouth... a big red sore. I was terrified! I took him to the vet asap... but not good news.
It was cancer. A very rare type of cancer only found in young cats and only a few cases even found in Texas. The vet showed me the x-ray of his mouth and all of the bones in his lower jaw on the right side were gone... totally gone!
Oliver and I were sent to a fancy Oncologist in Dallas to see about chemo or radiation. He sat on the end of the examination table and watched every move the doctor and I made. He watched when she pointed at this and that on the x-ray like he knew what she was saying. He also sat in the chair next to me when we were waiting! But she couldn't do anything for us...
Back to the regular vet for any other option...
The vet sent us to another vet, a surgeon in a place that was more posh than the Oncologist! My vet told me not to be worried about it when i went to the place. She said it was fancy but i should go to this place anyway. So we went.
Seriously... this place was so fancy! I thought no way can I afford this, but stuck to the plan.
The vet came in and again Oliver was sitting right beside me. The vet had a look at him and said my regular vet had phoned. He also said that Oliver would have to have surgery asap if he stood any chance of living. I was ready for it but still... not nice to hear.
I thought I might have a little time to get funds for this but the vet wanted to take him and do the surgery that day! I didn't have the money... plain and simple. I told the vet I didn't have much money....
The doctor went to a computer in the examination room and started to total the cost...
I'm sure my face went white. I had no idea what to do...
Then... The Dr. started to click and remove different costs... one by one.
600.00 he said... "can you get that?"
That was 12 years and 4500 miles ago! He looks pretty good now doesn't he!?
I decided to go for another year in photos! i didn't think at the start of 2011 I would ever be doing this again but well hey it had to be the way!
I have an Etsy shop now! Check it out here!!!!
